
King Saud University, KSU ( جامعة الملك سعود ) is Saudi Arabia's oldest and most prestigious university in the capital Riyadh. The university was founded by King Saud in 1957 as Riyadh University . It was renamed King Saud University in 1982. The university aspires to meet the educational development needs of society providing high-quality academic programs, pioneering innovative research and creative articulation. College of Architecture and Planning, at King Saud University, was founded in 1404 H. Department of Architecture and Building Sciences was a core branch of the College, which became the first academic institution for architectural education in the Arabian Peninsula at that time. The department’s formulation goes back to 1387 H, which was one of the departments of the College of Engineering. Department of Urban Planning is one of only four such departments in the whole kingdom. The department, aims to meet the needs of the society by providing highly qualified planners that could lead the urban planning processes and ensure a proper and a steady development in that regard.
